Peter Hillary climbs Everest
Peter Hillary, 48, the son of Sir Edmund Hillary, Saturday retraced the footsteps of his father to the top of Mount Everest, the 8848 meters high world's tallest peak, the Ministry of Tourism said.
Peter Hillary succeeded in climbing the mountain in his second attempt this spring; he first climbed the mountain in 1990. Sir Edmund and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa created history by climbing the mountain for the first time on May 29, 1953.
Altogether 24 persons from seven nations climbed the peak Saturday with four expeditions. Zsolt Eross, 34, and Laszlo Varkonyi, 46, climbed the peak to become the first Hungarians to climb Everest. Jose Luis Peralvo Arcos, 36, became the second Ecuadorian to climb Everest Saturday.
Ten Nepalis, eight Americans, two Hungarians, and one climber each from Switzerland, Ecuador, New
